What Identifile processes

Identifile processes the files and folders you add and the destinations you choose. Depending on the workflow, this can include filenames, paths, file types, sizes, dates, Finder metadata, extracted text, OCR, relevant image pixels, audio samples, video frames, AI findings and your renaming or organisation choices.

The Mac App Store edition uses the macOS sandbox and user-selected file access. Logical Renaming, metadata extraction, OCR and supported AI analysis run locally on your Mac.

Identifile does not operate an advertising network, behavioural analytics service, customer-file database or automatic crash-reporting SDK.

Local AI and optional downloads

Visual AI uses an app-managed local engine bound to your Mac. Customer files, filenames, extracted text, media samples and AI findings are not sent to a cloud AI service for analysis.

A supported model may require an initial download when you choose to install it. The model host receives ordinary connection information such as your IP address and the model requested. Model downloads do not contain your customer files or findings.

Audio analysis classifies short samples using Apple’s on-device sound classifier. It does not use your microphone or create a speech transcript. Video analysis can inspect sampled frames and its audio track. AI results may be wrong, so review them before applying names or folder plans.

Optional GPS place names

GPS coordinates can optionally be shown as the nearest town or suburb using a GeoNames directory bundled with Identifile. The lookup runs on your Mac. Coordinates, filenames and file contents are not sent to GeoNames, Apple or another geocoding service.

Local records and retention

Sessions, recovery files, extracted text, thumbnails, AI findings, operation history, presets, settings and security-scoped folder bookmarks are stored locally. These records can contain private filenames, paths and document details.

Records remain until you remove them or delete the relevant app data. Downloaded models remain until removed. Removing Identifile alone may leave application-support records or downloaded models on disk.

The macOS account, filesystem permissions and Keychain help protect app data. Protect your Mac account and keep macOS and Identifile updated.

Sharing, synced folders and exports

Identifile does not automatically choose a recipient or upload your files. However, services and destinations you choose can transfer them independently.

• Share and Open With use the service or application you select.
• iCloud Drive, other sync services, network folders and backups may transfer files placed in those locations.
• Exported sessions, presets and PDF reports go to the destination you choose and may include filenames, paths and findings.
• Support receives only the information you choose to send.

Review exported material before sharing it. Choose a local destination when files must stay exclusively on your Mac.

File changes, copies and recovery

Proposed names and folder plans are previews until you run an action. Rename changes an original filename. Copy creates a renamed copy and leaves the source unchanged. AI Organise creates organised copies and leaves source files in place.

Identifile refuses to replace an unrelated file at a destination. Undo, Redo and rollback depend on the relevant files remaining available and unchanged. These tools are not a substitute for a backup.

A Droplet asks you to review its saved workflow and choose the appropriate finish before the batch is applied.

App Store purchases and Apple services

Apple processes App Store account, payment and transaction information under Apple’s policies. Digiscript Pty Ltd does not receive payment-card details.

Identifile may verify Apple’s signed app transaction and device binding. Obtaining a verified record can require a connection to Apple and may request sign-in. Your customer files are not sent for this check.

Apple may separately process software downloads, signature and notarisation checks, purchases and operating-system diagnostics. These services are distinct from Identifile file analysis.

Your choices

You can use Logical Renaming without AI, choose or remove downloaded models, remove saved sessions and history, reset non-trial statistics, remove Finder tags, revoke file access through macOS and remove app data.

Files stored in third-party sync or backup services follow those services’ controls. Preserve any local sessions or reports you still need before deleting app records.

Identifile is a general-purpose productivity utility and is not directed to children. It does not sell customer file content or track customers across apps or websites.
